Charrie is an award-winning journalist who worked as an investigative reporter then an editorial board member and columnist for the St. Petersburg Times. She has taught writing and literature at the University of South Florida (USF) and St. Petersburg College.

She is a former program director of Lifelong Writers, the membership arm of The Florida Center for Writers at USF. Her award-winning essays have appeared in numerous literary journals, including Sunscripts, Snowy Egret, Wordsmith and Palm Prints. Her first novel is scheduled for publication in Fall 2009.
